1. Nancy Compton (1805 – 1866) – research indicates Nancy was a daughter of Revolutionary War James Compton as a Nancy was named in his pension files. Nancy had one son, William Cecil Compton (1827 – 1913) who she is living with in the 1860 Buchanan County, Virginia census. Nancy and her son William settled near present day Council, Virginia at the base of Big A mountain. Many of the descendants still live there today. Nancy’s son William is referred to on the 1845 Russell County tax lists as “William Compton of Nancy” to distinguish him from “William Compton of Thomas” on the same list. This William Compton of Nancy married Elizabeth Combs in 1849 and had the following children in birth order: Axley, Matilda, Reuben, Larkin, Nancy, Jacob, and Fielding Compton
2. Mary Compton (1799 - ?) another likely daughter of Revolutionary War James Compton who was named on the pension file. Mary married Joseph Harris later in life but had at least four children (father unknown) before she was married and passed the Compton name to them: a. Herndon Compton (1819 – 1894) – the first mention of Herndon Compton is in the Russell County, Virginia Law Order Books from 1835 in that he is referred to as a poor child bound to William Horton. He is next found on the Russell County, Virginia tax lists for the years 1844, 1845 and 1847. He is next found in Lawrence County, Ky married to Celia Crabtree in 1848. Herndon listed his birthplace as North Carolina. b. Priscilla Compton (1822 – 1892) had children with Neely McGlothlin and passed the Compton name on to them. Their names in birth order were: Martha Jane, William Patton, Fuller and James S Compton. Most of their descendants remain around Honaker, Virginia today c. Telitha Compton (1835 - ?) married George W Deel and lived in the Vansant, Virginia area d. Henry Compton (1841 – 1883) married Celia Compton of Richard J Compton
3. Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Compton (circa 1820 - ?) probable daughter of Thomas Compton (1788 – 1855) who passed the Compton on to her offspring. She was named as the sister of Benjamin Wallace Compton by Hannibal Compton (take it for what it is worth). Elizabeth lived in the same geographic area as Benjamin Wallace Compton. Her children in birth order were Malvina, John Henry, Nancy Ann, William, and Viney Compton.
